St Mary's Rainbow Preschool is located in the historic St Mary’s Church Hall, North Wagga Wagga. We are a community based, not for profit early childhood centre providing high quality education and care in our unique, small group preschool program for children aged between 3 and 5 years old.
We
are blessed to have one of the largest outdoor play areas in Wagga, which
enables us to a bring hands on environmental education into the preschool
experience. Whether it’s digging up worms and creepy crawlies, swinging in a
tree or collecting eggs laid by our resident chickens, our children are always
in touch with their natural environment. Our beautiful outdoor area also has a
wonderful vegetable garden, cubby house, under-cover sand pit, performance
stage and playground.
Our
internal play space within our 104 year old church hall building, has been
recently refurbished and offers a homelike environment with a myriad of
resources including home corner, book corner, arts and crafts and good quality
wooden toys.
The early childhood
educators employed at St Mary’s Preschool are highly experienced with early
childhood qualifications ranging from university level, diploma level and certificate
III. The educators attend regular professional development courses throughout
the year to update their existing knowledge, to keep abreast of current trends
and developments within the early childhood education, and to continually
improve the high standards of care and education delivered. St Mary’s Rainbow Preschool incorporates the
fundamental principles of the early years learning framework with a focus on
play based learning.
Our
preschools maintain the ethos of the Anglican Parish of Wagga Wagga whilst also
respecting the traditions and cultures of all the people in our community.
Uniquely our
preschool has a Chaplain who makes regular contact with the staff, children and
their families as well as community members. The chaplain takes an active role
in supporting members of the preschool community in times of need, crisis or
emergency.
